Shocking

Well guess what? I’m an idiot. The Cowboys are done. Bring on the head coaching job applicants. Let the interviews commence. My lingering doubts about Romo are validated once again.

In Dallas, we have standards. They may be unrealistic. They may be unfair. But when you live here, or if you love the Cowboys like we do, it’s Championship or bust. Anything less is fail. A playoff win is no victory.

I’d better hear some anger from the leadership. Romo needs to show some postgame fire. His career will be compared to Danny White if things don’t change. Yeah this loss doesn’t make him a failure as a human, but as a Cowboy…as fans, we expect so much more.

This just will not do.

Sadness Settles In

The reality of a Cowboys loss to the Vikings is a daunting one. Idiot John looks like he may have given up hope. Where is 7 interception Brett Favre when you need him?

It may look bad…

Halftime DAL vs MIN

Cowboys trail 17-3, and Mark and I have differing opinions on what’s in store for quarters three and four.

Mark smells a blowout. I think we’re not in that bad of shape. Fourteen points is very manageable if this Cowboy offense can get its wheels back on.

A Bar Full of Cowboy Haters

Both idiots are here at Lone Star Grill in Richardson watching a bar full of haters heckle the game. There’s Steeler jerseys, Viking fans, and this one female who looks to be doing something dirty with her butt.

Mark is wishing he had some D-cell batteries to throw their way. I’m screaming at every TV in the joint.

…and I’ve started posting from my phone. GO COWBOYS!

Almost Shocking: Disaster Narrowly Averted

Personal foul: administering the shocker, number 9 on the offense, 15-yard penalty, repeat third down.

I’m not sure if there will be casualties reported, but I think we just had a meltdown in Kansas City. That game had every indication that it would be one of the ugliest games since…well, since the end of last season.

If they would have somehow managed to blow this cupcake of an opponent, I would have gladly worn vintage KC/Dallas Texans jerseys for the rest of the season. From penalties (again) to turnovers (again) to dropped passes, poorly-thrown-passes, unseen open receivers, the list goes on.

So what exactly are the Cowboys’ strengths right now, really? By week five, one should be able to identify a team’s strengths, if they have any. (Which pretty much answers my question.)

Some thoughts from the game:

  • Tashard Choice looks like the best RB until Barber can prove himself again. He’s got juice when he gets the ball. Marion runs like he’s still hurt.
  • Patrick Crayton is not a legit #2 receiver. He has to catch the ball when it’s RIGHT THERE. Straight-up drops are unacceptable. As a starter, you’re worthless to the team if the QB doesn’t trust you…and defenses know that.
  • Tony Romo still has accuracy issues. Perhaps the pressure of leading this Dallas Cowboys team is making him think just a bit too much after the snap. Whatever the reason, his timing is off, and it’s hurting the offense.
  • Tackling KC players appeared to be much easier than bring down previous opponents. Hard to tell whether the Chiefs just suck that bad or the Cowboys made an effort to correct the lack of tackling problem.
  • Before the season, if you told me that 5 weeks in, I’d be happy to trade Head Coaches with Denver I would have laughed…out loudly. Now I think Wade just needs to be cut, like a kicker who misses an extra point.

The Cowboys are 3-2, just like my fantasy team…and I have way more faith in my fantasy team at this point.

Ochocinco Kicks

We love us some Chad Johnson a.k.a. Ochocinco. While we usually appreciate his post-game and off the field contributions, this week he showed us another side: he’s what we would NEVER talk about on the Pigskin…he’s a KICKER!
